According to a July interview between network.nationalpost.com and director Catherine Hardwicke, Kristen Stewart was recommended for the role of Bella Swan by Emile Hirsch, her co-star from Into the Wild - Nelle terre selvagge (2007) and whom Hardwicke directed in Lords of Dogtown (2005).
