Harley tells Nightwing that she thought that Batman and Robin didn't like girls - an idea she got from a book she read in college involving "headlights and eyeball gouging". The book she is referring to is the real life book "Seduction of the Innocent" written by Dr. Frederic Wertham, a noted enemy of comic books. The eyeball gouging refers to a panel from the comic book "True Crime Comics" #2 in the story "Murder, Morphine and Me!" in which a woman is about to have a needle stuck in her eye by a crazed junkie.
