In creating Pasaana, director J.J. Abrams wanted to set up a world for Rey to experience her first sights of laughter, life, and celebration. However, Rey had seen laughter, life, and celebration since The Force Awakens where she was part of the celebration of the destruction of Starkiller Base, and there was even more life on greener planets that Rey visited making the statement by J.J. Abrams make little sense.
