In 2008, it was reported that Joe Carnahan had signed on to direct a Taskmaster film. Carnahan said that the film was going to include Moon Knight and that it would "literally build Taskmaster's origin" because it would "commence with the events following Taskmaster's severe beat down at the hands of Moon Knight".
