Bob Finkel, who was one of the producers of the Elvis: The Comeback Special (1968), was given the task of distracting "Colonel" Parker during the taping by Steve Binder to keep Parker from knowing that they weren't taping a Christmas special. Finkel did this partially by playing pranks on Parker. Finkel and Parker agreed that whoever pulled the best prank would get something from the other person. Finkel wanted Parker's cane. After the shooting was done, Finkel had a crew take the famed ELVIS lights that were behind Elvis when he sang, "If I Can Dream" to Parker's Palm Springs home and had them lit with a generator for when Parker got home. Within a few days, Finkel received a package from Parker. Inside the package was his cane.
