In a Jan. 2023 interview with Total Film, executive producer Seth Rogan said this show wouldn't exist without the Marvel Cinematic Universe films existing. He feels those movies are "geared towards kids," which allows space for a counter movement to exist with mature superhero stories like The Boys.
