The (original) outdoor Albert Square set was built on the plot of land used for the building site in Auf Wiedersehen, Pet (1983). Which had been the last series shot on the backlot when this Studio complex had previously been known as ATV and Central Independent Television's Elstree/Borehamwood ("London") base, before the studio complex became BBC Elstree. The late 2020s "real brick" re-build of Albert Square, was on the site of what had previously primarily been the ATV/Central/BBC Elstree staff car park.
