There are a few similarities between this film and IT: a very eerie villain goes after kids (often trying to get them to approach with promises of magic tricks or something fun), the villain has a costume or familiar look of some kind, and while IT shows a red balloon at times to denote danger, there are two black balloons in this film shown floating after the protagonist is taken. Plus Gwen is riding through the rain with a yellow raincoat in search of Finny. Also the Grabber's brother, Max, is played by James Ransone who played the older version of Eddie Kaspbrak in It: Chapter 2 (2019).
