The 'Yutani' part of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation (mentioned frequently throughout the Alien franchise) is never used in this film, which implies that they have not yet merged with Weyland Corporations at this point in time. However, in The Peter Weyland Files: Quiet Eye, Elizabeth Shaw (2012), a feature on the Blu-Ray disc, there is a clip of Elizabeth Shaw making her science proposition to Peter Weyland, and the words "Yutani Corporation" can be seen superimposed onto it on a few occasions. In the text accompanying this video, Peter Weyland implies that this "Yutani" had received and analyzed her video first, before forwarding it to Weyland himself. Furthermore, Weyland also mentions that "Yutani's new ECIU software" has deciphered an extraterrestrial signal. This suggests that Yutani's company was an affiliate or partner of Weyland's, concerned with data analysis, before their companies merged. The novel 'Alien: Covenant - Origins' (a prequel to Alien: Covenant (2017)), however, explains that Yutani Corporation bought up Weyland Corp during a hostile takeover 6 years after Weyland's death; the "Weyland" part was kept in the name for marketing reasons.
