When John Calley took over as Sony chief in 2000, one of his priorities was a Jumanji sequel. Despite getting a sort-of sequel with Zathura - Un'avventura spaziale (2005), a genuine sequel to Jumanji did not happen until Jumanji - Benvenuti nella giungla (2017), three years after Robin Williams' death.
