Shortly before shooting, Tom Hardy and Paul Anderson co-starred together in Peaky Blinders (2013). Hardy played Alfie Solomons, a brutally violent Jewish gang leader in 1920s East End London. Anderson played an equally violent and unpredictable gangster, Arthur Shelby, part of a Birmingham crime family.
