In general, Herschel's life story is similar with Moses. But at some point in the movie, there are also plots which are associated with other Biblical characters from the Old Testament . For example, the fight against the giant is known as part of the legend of King David's biblical story (though, unlike in the movie, David wins, not Goliath). The scene that was set in New Sodom, and the fate of Herschel's wife, is similar to the story of Lot (though, in the Bible, the plan to destroy Sodom was announced to Lot by an angel deliberately, not by an accident). Also, Herschel's former job for the Pharaoh is a reference to Joseph (though, unlike Herschel, Joseph's predictions were accurate to the point that he was even rewarded by the Pharaoh due to their significance).
