In the UK, some stories were edited together to make three feature length movies and then released theatrically during various school holidays between 1979-80 to cash in on the huge success of 'Superman' (1978). Although they weren't given a huge blockbuster release the films still did reasonably well at the box-office. In 1981, the series proper finally aired in the UK on early Friday evenings on the ITV network.
