Early in planning, Michael Dorn's character of Lieutenant Worf from Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987) had been suggested as being part of the Voyager crew. The idea was dropped when Dorn chose not to pursue the role. However, he did continue to play his Worf character on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993) as well as in Generazioni (1994), Primo contatto (1996), Star Trek - L'insurrezione (1998), and Star Trek - La nemesi (2002).
