The prop consoles used on the various ships all had working buttons which controlled the many tiny lights across them, which were dubbed 'honeycombs'. As the actors would take their places and the director would instruct them to light up their consoles for the take, the cast developed a tradition of all singing the chorus from the 1950s single "Honeycomb".
