Joker's red suit seen in the movie pays tribute to Re per una notte (1982), where Rupert Pupkin, played by Robert De Niro, is an unsuccessful, mentally-unstable comedian who stalked and kidnapped his favorite talk-show host, Jerry Langford, played by Jerry Lewis. Pupkin also dresses a red suit.
