Jor-El (Russell Crowe) is stabbed in the side with a knife prior to death. Crowe had the same experience in Il gladiatore (2000), when Commodus stabbed his character to weaken him, before the two fight to the death. And he fell to the ground the exact same way as in Il gladiatore (2000): stiff like a log without any try to prevent hitting the ground or to absorb the impact.
