On several occasions, an overworked Lansbury would take a break and appear just briefly to introduce that week's episode - those episodes invariably featured Keith Michell as Jessica's friend Dennis Stanton, a suave, sophisticated retired former jewel thief in San Francisco who works for an insurance company, which, needless to say, provides plenty of opportunities for crime solving.
