Susannah York, who played Lara in Superman, was annoyed with the script; particularly the scene where Jor-El makes a big speech to his baby son about how he was giving him a magic crystal to oversee him and guide him through life. York was incensed by her character not giving Kal-El anything. "I don't give him d____!" she said.
