When Charlie Sheen was fired from the show, Chuck Lorre decided that Charlie Harper was to be killed off and in Season 9, it's revealed Charlie Harper slipped on a metro platform and fell in front of a train. Charlie Sheen was replaced by Ashton Kutcher as Walden Schmidt whom remained in the show until the finale.
