When Maverick (Tom Cruise) posts Mach 10.4 in the Darkstar jet he is testing, and the plane starts to malfunction, he is forced to punch out. He is then seen walking along a rural road toward Cecil's Cafe where he asks where he is. A boy informs him his is on earth.He's not wrong, but more specifically, the scene was filmed at the Halfway House Cafe located on the outskirts of Santa Clarita about 128 miles away from China Lake, California where he took off.
