In this series, Raven is raised by a woman named Melissa Roth, and names her Rachel Roth, who poses as Raven's biological mother until she forced to reveal the truth and is killed. Raven discovers her real biological mother, Angela Azarath who has been held captive in an abandoned mental institution and is in league with Raven's evil demon father Trigon. In the comics, Raven was raised on Arareth with her mother Arella. The only thing these two stories have in common is that Raven was kept away from Trigon.
