The deaths of Ricks and Upworth were highly reminiscent of those of Parker and Lambert from the original Alien film. Both sets of characters are killed in an area heavy with dripping or flowing water, and both are killed in very similar fashions. Both are also killed at the climax of the film. Notably, allusion to the long-held fan theory that the Alien may have sexually assaulted Lambert before killing her is shown in the death of Upworth, who is at first jabbed by the Alien's tail in her groin before the Alien actually attacks.
