The second season takes place between 72-73 BC/BCE The final battle occurred on Mount Vesuvius, which was (and still is) active, meaning it is the only time in history that a decisive battle was fought on active volcano. It later erupted in 79 A.D., preserving the town of Pompeii in its wake.
