The series was notable at the time for offering work and three dimensional roles to numerous disabled actors. Most prominent among these is James Troesh, who plays Scotty Wilson, a quadriplegic, in multiple episodes, and appears more frequently in the show than anyone apart from Mark and Jonathan. Scotty faces multiple challenges, but ends up becoming a successful lawyer, married man and adopts a son during the course of the series. Other noteworthy examples included Tom Sullivan who appears in multiple episodes and Robert David Hall; both of these actors have campaigned for the rights of disabled people in real life.
