The main characters of the book are the three leads in this movie (Hope Lange, Suzy Parker and Diane Baker) and also Sue Carson's tough cookie type Mary Agnes and the beautiful fashion editor Martha Hyer, but since a movie is shorter than a book, they cut down the Mary Agnes part (although she is still important and full of plot-point exposition) while dwindling Martha Hyer down to almost nothing (yet she's still credited before Diane Baker).
