The Child (Later named Grogu), well known by fans as 'Baby Yoda,' quickly became an internet sensation over the months after the premiere of this series, but toys weren't available for the character because of that secrecy. Some toys, such as Funko Pop! figures and a plush from Mattel, weren't available until early 2020. Jon Favreau has said the intention was to not spoil the series ahead of the premiere. "The way the cat usually gets out of the bag with that stuff is merchandising and toy catalogs and things like that," he told Entertainment Tonight.
