Designer Bill Belew created Elvis Presley's famed gold lamé suit and was tasked with coming up with outfits for the Elvis: The Comeback Special (1968), as well. He designed the black leather suit as well as the two-piece white suit that Elvis wore during his performance of "If I Can Dream". Afterward, Elvis asked him to come up with ideas for outfits for his return to the stage in Vegas that allowed him more movement than the black leather suit. So, Belew designed Elvis' now famous iconic flashy jumpsuits for the Vegas stage, keeping in his designs and the high collar that he used for the Elvis: The Comeback Special (1968). This is due to how the high collar framed Elvis' high cheekbones and face perfectly.
