Although the film continues to find new generations of viewers who love it, many of the objects seen are nearly obsolete in 2022. These include adding machines, typewriters (and their dust covers, special paper, carbons and erasers), LP records and players (though vinyl is making a comeback), rotary dial telephones, desk pen sets, small screen analog televisions, fur stoles, Homburg hats for men as everyday wear, switchboard and elevator operators, typing pools, milk delivery, mercury thermometers, and a multitude of others. On the other hand, club sandwiches, cocktails, dive bars, frozen (microwaveable) meals, insurance, infidelity, cheese crackers, TV remotes and the love of classic movies continue to be staples of everyday life. And New York City will always be New York City.
