Christopher Lee is the third cast member of La furia dei Baskerville (1959) to appear in a Tolkien adaptation. André Morell; who played Doctor Watson; also voiced Elrond in Il signore degli anelli (1978). He also died a week after its release. John Le Mesurier voiced Bilbo in the BBC Radio adaptation, and died within a year. Lee too died six months after this film came out.
