Spicoli's dream where he wins a surfing award was originally meant to see him on The Tonight Show. Johnny Carson passed on the cameo, so they offered it to Tom Snyder "I talked to [him] on the day he was leaving The Tomorrow Show, and he was depressed and said 'I'm gonna go get drunk now but thanks for thinking of me.'"
