The music most associated with the Can Can dance, which is also used in this movie, comes from Jacques Offenbach's 1858 operetta "Orfée aux enfers" ("Orpheus in the Underworld"). It is called "The Infernal Galop." A galop is a fast country dance introduced to Paris society in the 1820's by the Duchesse de Berry.
