In an interview published in the booklet that came with the 2011 Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home (expanded) soundtrack release, Leonard Nimoy reveals that he had wanted to use composer Leonard Rosenman to score Star Trek III - Alla ricerca di Spock (1984) but that Paramount Studios would not let him, and since that film was his directorial debut, Nimoy did not have the leverage to get his way.
