Doug Liman had a hard time with the scene where Bourne and Marie kiss. The director had to question whether or not this woman would be attracted to someone who has put her through everything Bourne had put her through up to that point. Liman came to terms with it after remembering what drew him to the story in the first place, the idea of what it would be like to meet someone like Jason Bourne who had a dark, mysterious past.
