This was the first Bond film to be released with a gap of (nearly) 3 years, following a previous Bond film, namely Agente 007 - L'uomo dalla pistola d'oro (1974). At the time, this was the longest hiatus between Bond films and remained so until the 6-year gap between 007 - Vendetta privata (1989) and GoldenEye (1995).
