The silent movie Captain Midnight, the Bush King (1911), about an actual outlaw named Captain Midnight, is partially the reason for the name change to "Jet Jackson" in Australia. The sponsor wanting a name-change of the show was the main reason. But in the U.S.A., the name was changed because the program was going into syndication, and Screen Gems didn't hold the rights to the character Captain Midnight. Wander Company, the makers of Ovaltine did. Since they had the go-ahead to use the "Jet Jackson" name in Australia, the show became Jet Jackson and any Captain Midnight name mentioned in any of the episodes would be dubbed over with the new name. But if you listen very carefully you will notice they missed a few times and left the Captain Midnight name unchanged.
