When Deakins is sparring with Hale in the boxing ring, Deakins taunts him with many things including the term "Rope-A-Dope" which is from the historic Muhammad Ali and George Foreman fight in Zaire from 1972. This would come to play many times in Graham Yost's script as there are many misdirections within the film.
