Actress Martine Bartlett, who portrayed the hysterical self-abusing mental patient ''Secret Wife'' character in the film, had the year before in 1976 played Hattie Dorsett in Sybil (1976), who was the abusive and disturbing mother of Sally Field. Both stories are about psychiatric related subject matters.
