Joe Lo Truglio (Boyle) and Ken Marino (CJ) appeared in Wet Hot American Summer (2001) as best friends Neil and Victor, respectively. In the movie, Lo Truglio plays a character with an obsessive admiration towards Marino's character, just as Boyle behaves around Peralta (Andy Samberg). They were also both in the MTV sketch show The State and the comedy movie Nudi e felici (2012).
