The relationship between Chad and Liv is almost an identical parallel of the relationship between Casey Becker and Steve Orth in the original film. Much like Casey, who previously dated Stu Macher before leaving him for the football player Steve, Liv previously dated Vince Schneider, Stu Macher's nephew, before leaving him for the football player Chad. The fates of Liv and Chad, however, are an inverse of Casey and Steve. Unlike Casey in the original, Liv is the final victim to be killed prior to the reveal of the killers while Chad, unlike Steve, survives at the end.
