Jackson Maine's death is foreshadowed early on in the movie. When he and his driver are stopped at a red light there is a billboard with 4 nooses displayed next to Jackson's head. It is again foreshadowed when Jackson is talking to his AA counselor, recounting a time when he tried to hang himself with a belt at 13.
