The big absentee among the cast is Jeff Anderson, who portrayed Randall in Clerks - Commessi (1994) and most other movies in the View Askewniverse. At the time that the movie was made, Anderson and director Kevin Smith weren't on good terms because the former had rejected Smith's previous script for Clerks III (2022). His absence is explained in the beginning, when Dante (Brian O'Halloran) claims to the police that he can give them Randall's location, suggesting that Randall has gone into hiding for something illegal. Anderson and Smith made amends shortly before Jay and Silent Bob Reboot was released.
