Director Chad Stahelski wanted to show more of the underground social structure that exists in John Wick's world. One way of doing this was bringing in Anjelica Huston as The Director. Keanu Reeves says, "It was fantastic to have the chance to work with Anjelica for the first time. The scenes with her character are some of the film's most dramatic - they are rooted in John Wick's past but rich in the stakes of the moment. She brings the depth you want from that."
