Creed Bratton revealed on Brian Baumgartner's (Kevin) podcast "The Office Deep Dive" that he based the twitchy nervous movements and general behavior of his character on the style of French silent film actor and director Jacques Tati. Bratton spent significant time in Europe during his youth, and would be inspired by Tati's films. He describes Creed as being "half Jacques Tati, half Charles Chaplin".
