At the start of the film, Christopher Eccleston's detective Nipper Read follows Reggie through alleyways and backstreets. Christopher Eccleston had done a similar scene as policeman DCI Bilborough in the series 'Cracker' (1994) chasing Robert Carlyle's character through alleyways and backstreets where in a memorable scene he is stabbed to death. Reggie Kray goes on to stab Jack McVitie to death at the end of the film.
