It took Serena seven episodes to join Ash's group, the longest time out of all of Ash's traveling companions to join him after being introduced. Additionally, Serena is also the first female character to not get herself or her bike shocked by Pikachu at the start of the series: Misty, May, and Dawn all had their bikes electrocuted, while Iris and Bonnie were directly shocked by Pikachu. Furthermore, Serena also took the longest time out of all of Ash's traveling companions to reveal her goal in life, only choosing to become a Pokémon Performer and aim for Kalos Queen 47 episodes after her debut.
