In the wake of Netflix's subscriber loss of 2022, it was discovered that this show was one of the reasons why Netflix faced such a fate. According to a report published by The Hollywood Reporter, it was revealed that successful former content lead Cindy Holland was against greenlighting the show as she thought the story wasn't up to mark. This took place in 2017 when Netflix first announced that the show was in development. However newly appointed Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos hired Bela Bajaria as an assistant content lead and she was assigned with commissioning the show. This created constant clashes between Holland and Bajaria. Employees thought Sarandos' motions of continuing development of the show despite Holland's lack of interest in it was "a terrible thing." After the series received negative reviews from audience and critics alike, Sarandos' and Bajaria's work ethics behind the series' development raised questions. Ultimately the series was cancelled in 2020 after two seasons aired and Cindy Holland left Netflix the same year. The incident was dubbed as "the beginning of Warlmart-ization of Netflix" by several news outlets.
