This was falsely rumored that William Shatner would appear as the original incarnation of Captain James T. Kirk. In the original timeline, Kirk (Shatner) died helping Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) stop Dr. Tolian Soran (Malcolm McDowell) in Generazioni (1994). Kirk's death took place 16 years before Spock Prime (Leonard Nimoy) and Nero's (Eric Bana) arrival in the alternate timeline in Star Trek (2009).
