Cast member David Cronenberg is best known as a director, where he frequently uses Howard Shore to compose the scores. Before working with Cronenberg, Shore was musical director of Saturday Night Live. In that capacity, Dan Aykroyd (who also appears in this film) enlisted his help in recruiting blues musicians to be members of the Blues Brothers band. John Landis also directed The Blues Brothers.
