Early promotional materials for the film credited the late Diane Thomas as co-writer on the screenplay, but later materials (and the final film) credit Jerry Belson as the sole writer. Thomas had been reportedly working on the script for Steven Spielberg when she was tragically killed in a car accident in 1985.
